Un-moderated but pre-arranged conferencing is a very popular option for smaller organizations who may not utilize conference calling services very often. Most often charge-by-minute-by-participant, this service can be extremely cost effective when your conferencing needs are low.
However, if your organization frequently utilizes conference calling services that may not always be arranged in advance, instant access is the option for you. In this instance, designated meeting moderators are issued call-in numbers and room-access numbers and can hand out those digits at a moment’s notice so that a number of people can gather nearly instantly. One limitation to instant access conferencing can be the preset attendee limits imposed by your conferencing carrier. Before signing up, ensure that there are enough lines per instant-access account to accommodate your typical meeting.
Another limitation to instant access conferencing can be a lack of bells and whistles - it is often a challenge to obtain operator assistance for instant access calls, and add-on options including recording and announcement capabilities can be limited. Once again you’ll need to decide which type of service will best fit your company’s needs.
